The Nike Huarache used to be kind of a niche shoe, but a resurgence a few years ago brought them back into the spotlight, with many palette swapped retros emerging. The Nike Air Huarache Run 91 QS is Nike’s take on bringing the shoe back to it’s original form.
This release sports an OG colorway and comes packaged with special newsprint-graphic paper and a pin.
These color scream 90s, but for some reason I don’t feel inspired to go full 1990 outfit-wise. I suppose if I owned a full track suit in a wild variation of the colorway, I could go that route. Maybe it’s the sunny weather that has finally occurred, but i opted for some light wash denim and a white tee instead. These can also work with a black/grey fit which would allow the shoes to pop a bit.
Ultimately, I get why Nike stepped up their game on these, but the reality is they should release all their shoes at this level. I’d own way more Huaraches if they are as comfortable as these with the same build, shape and quality. For now, I’m happy to have these and can’t wait to see what other 91 QS versions drop. Highly recommended shoe for fans of this model!
How Are The Materials?
The materials on these are definitely a step up from other huaraches I’ve owned. The leather is surprisingly soft and supple and the mesh seems to be of a higher quality as well! I was pleasantly surprised pulling these out of the box – Nike took their time and did these right! Material fiends should definitely not overlook these based on older Huarache releases. The quality on these beats what you might expect if you’ve gotten any releases of this model in the past few years.
How Do They Fit?
These Nike Air Huarache Run 91 QS fit true to size. Previous releases of these had my toes cramping at true size, but the pliable leather on these gives another level of flexibility. Overall I find these to be very comfortable for a NSW release; especially being a pair of Huaraches. The shape also seems fairly improved as well, although it could still be a tad pointier.
